Ibn Abbas (may Allah swt please with him) narrated:
Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) once passed by two graves, and those two persons (in the graves) were being tortured. He said, "They are being tortured not for a great thing (to avoid). One of them never saved himself from being soiled with his urine, while the other was going about with calumnies (to make enmity between friends)." He then took a green leaf of a date-palm tree split it into two pieces and fixed one on each grave. The people said, "O Allah's Apostle! Why have you done so?". He replied, "I hope that their punishment may be lessened till they (the leaf) become dry."

Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 2 : No. 443
Abu Huraira (may Allah swt please with him) narrated:
Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) said, "Every child is born with a true faith of Islam (i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone) but his parents convert him to Judaism, Christianity or Magainism, as an animal delivers a perfect baby animal. Do you find it mutilated?"
Then Abu Huraira recited the holy verses: "The pure Allah's Islamic nature (true faith of Islam) (i.e. worshipping none but Allah) with which He has created human beings. No change let there be in the religion of Allah (i.e. joining none in worship with Allah). That is the straight religion (Islam) but most of men know, not." (30.30)

If any one of you see a funeral procession and he is not going along with it, then he should stand and remain standing till he gets behind it, or it leaves him behind, or the coffin is put down before it goes ahead of him.

When the funeral is ready and the men carry it on their shoulders, if the deceased was righteous it will say, 'Present me (hurriedly),' and if he was not righteous, it will say, 'Woe to it (me)! Where are they taking it (me)?'. Its voice is heard by everything except man and if he heard it he would fall unconscious.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 2 : No. 400
"Whoever attends the funeral procession till he offers the funeral prayer for it, will get a reward equal to one Qirat, and whoever accompanies it till burial, will get a reward equal to two Qirats".

It was asked, "What are two Qirats?"

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) replied, "Like two huge mountains."

Hadrat Anas ibn Malik (may Allah swt be pleased with him) reported: "We returned with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) from a journey and when we entered the suburbs of Al-Madinah, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) said:
'Ayibuna, ta'ibuna, aabiduna, li-Rabbina hamidun'
(We are returning in safety, turning to our Lord, worshipping Him and praising Him).

He (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) continued repeating these words till we entered Al-Madinah".

Muslim. Riyad-us-Saliheen (Hadith # 987)

[Message for us in hadith: When one returns from a journey and sees one’s town suburbs, he should start reciting the invocation mentioned in this hadith till he enters the city. These phrases express gratitude to Allah Subhanah wa Ta'ala for the safe return to one's hometown; they also express repentance, obedience and determination to worship Allah.]
