Dawud :: Book 25 : Hadith 3638

Narrated Zayd ibn Thabit (may Allah swt please with him):

The Apostle of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) ordered me (to learn the writing of the Jews), so I learnt for him the writing of the Jews. He (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) said: "I swear by Allah, I do not trust Jews in respect of writing for me." So I learnt it, and only a fortnight passed that, I mastered it. I would write for him when he wrote (to them), and read to him when something was written to him.

"He who misappropriates the right of a Muslim by taking a false oath, Allah will condemn him to the Fire of Hell and will forbid Paradise for him."

A person asked: 'O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) even if it is something insignificant?'

He (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) replied, "Yes, even if it is the twig of the Arak tree!"

Muslim. Hadith quoted from Riyad-us-Saliheen (Hadith # 1713)
He who calls others to follow the Right Guidance will have a reward equal to the reward of those who follow him, without their reward being diminished in any respect on that account.

Muslim. Riyad-us-Saliheen (Hadith # 1382)

The soul of the deceased believer remains pending on account of the debt till it (the debt) is repaid.

Tirmidhi. Riyad-us-Saliheen (Hadith # 943)

[The Divine decision regarding the redemption of a deceased person remains suspended till the time its debt, if any, is paid off. The heirs, family, loved ones, and/or the believers in general must give priority to settle the debts (if any) of their deceased brethren as soon as possible.

Such was the importance given by the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) to the settling of the debts (if any) of a deceased companion, that he (may peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) used to refuse to offer the funeral prayer and seek forgiveness for the deceased, until someone paid off his/her debts.]

Narrated Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah swt please with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) said,

"O Muahdh! Do you know what Allah's Right upon His slaves is?"

I said, "Allah and His Messenger know better".

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) said, "To worship Him (Allah) Alone and to join none in worship with Him (Allah). Do you know what their right upon Him is?"

I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know better".

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) said, "Not to punish them (if they did so)."

O son of Adam, if you spend the surplus, it will be better for you; and if you retain it, it will be evil for you. You will not be reprimanded for storing what is enough for your need. First of all spend upon those who are your dependents.

Muslim :: Book 4 : Hadith 755

Suhail reported that his father sent him to Banu Haritha along with a boy or a man. Someone called him by his name from an enclosure. He (the narrator) said: The person with me looked towards the enclosure, but saw nothing. I made a mention of that to my father. He said: If I knew that you would meet such a situation I would have never sent you (there), but (bear in wind) whenever you hear such a call (from the evil spirits) pronounce the Adhan, for I have heard Abu Huraira (may Allah swt please with him) say that the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) said: "Whenever Adhan is proclaimed, Satan runs back vehemently".

When the Imam is delivering the Khutba (sermon of Friday/Eid prayers), and you ask your companion to keep quiet and listen, then no doubt you have done an evil act.

[That means during Khutba we need to keep quiet in respect and listen carefully, and this is so important that even if somebody is talking, just ignore rather than speaking and telling him/her to keep quiet.]

Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 2 : No. 56
When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumua prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba.

Uthman (may Allah swt be pleased with him) call for a vessel (of water) and poured water over his hands three times and then washed them. Then he put his right hand in the vessel and rinsed his mouth and cleaned his nose. Then he washed his face three times and his hands up to the elbow three times; then wiped his head, then washed his feet three times. Then he said that the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) had said: 'He who performed ablution like this ablution of mine and offered two rakahs of prayer without allowing his thoughts to be distracted, all his previous sins would be expiated'

Verily, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than a person who has lost his camel in a waterless desert carrying his provision of food and drink. He, having lost all hopes (to get his camel and provisions back), lies down in shade and is disappointed about his (lost) camel; when all of a sudden he finds that camel standing before him. He takes hold of its reins and then out of boundless joy blurts out: 'O Allah, You are my slave and I am Your lord. He commits this mistake out of extreme joy.’

Muslim. Riyad-us-Saliheen (Hadith # 15)

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade anyone in ihram to wear a garment which had been dyed with saffron or yellow dye, and said, 'Anyone that cannot find sandals can wear leather socks, but he should cut them off below the ankles'

Malik :: Book 20 : Hadith 20.4.9

Monday, March 16, 2009

A person who attributes his fatherhood to anyone other than his real father, knowing that he is not his father, commits an act of disbelief.

And he who makes a claim of anything which in fact does not belong to him, is none of us. He should make his abode in Hell,

and he who labels anyone as disbeliever or calls him the enemy of Allah and he is in fact not so, his charge will revert to him.

I found a purse containing one hundred Diners. So I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) (and informed him about it), he said, "Make public announcement about it for one year" I did so, but nobody turned up to claim it, so I again went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah swt be upon him) who said, "Make public announcement for another year." I did, but none turned up to claim it. I went to him for the third time and he said, "Keep the container and the string which is used for its tying and count the money it contains and if its owner comes, give it to him; otherwise, utilize it."

Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, then uses his (hair) oil or perfumes himself with the scent of his house, then proceeds (for the Jumua prayer) and does not separate two persons sitting together (in the mosque), then prays as much as (Allah has) written for him and then remains silent while the Imam is delivering the Khutba, his sins in-between the present and the last Friday would be forgiven.

Abu Salama ibn Abd ar-Rahman asked A'isha, the wife of the Prophet (may Allah swt please with her), what the prayer of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was like during Ramadan. She said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, did not go above eleven rakas in Ramadan or at any other time. He prayed four - do not ask me about their beauty or length. Then he prayed another four - do not ask me about their beauty and length. Then he prayed three."

A'isha continued, "I said, 'Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), are you sleeping before you do the witr?' He said, A'isha, my eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep.' "
If someone fears that he will sleep through till the morning, let him pray the witr before he sleeps, and if some one hopes to wake for the last part of the night, let him delay his witr.
