The Messenger of Allah (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) said: "The best believer according to his practice of Islaam is one from whose tongue and hand Muslims are safe." [Al-
Bukhari]

Commentary - As Muslims we should endeavour to make sure that our brothers and sisters are safe from the evil of our tongues and the evil of our hands. Our tongues and hands should not be a danger to them or a cause of pain. How easily do our tongues hurt others? We feign care and concern for our fellow Muslims, but our hearts may be empty.

We should examine our words more carefully. Do they bring comfort and relief to those around us or do they fall sharply and heavily on their hearts?

We should strive with these duties, while we still have them, these precious gifts from Allaah - our tongue and our hands.
